We have not been blessed with perfect weather. Low level cloud has prevented us from seeing the Alps on most days. A quick check of the web cam shows that the Jungfrau is bathed in brilliant sunshine. Off we go on the cog railway to the Jungfraujoch, the highest station in Europe at 11,333 feet. Opened in 1912 the railway passes through about 9kms of tunnels, including a stop at the face of the Eiger, before reaching the summit station.
Of course with the amount of low level cloud we could not see down the Lauterbrunnen valley. The following photo taken by John during a ‘work’ trip in 1991 shows what we missed.
Nice pic. Are the pic all taken from the station compound?
